LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the latest installment in a huge series of game adaptations from these two. Star Wars and LEGO have a long story together, for about two decades now they've been releasing products together. And just five years later they started releasing games, and with these, the LEGO-Movie game universe started.

Adapting all the movies from the Star Wars saga wasn' enough though, and soon enough they started getting into different movies like Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and even Marvel and DC comics. However, even though you might think that a game like LEGO The Hobbit would be completely different from LEGO Star Wars, they all followed the same basic style. So is it the same thing once again? Let's talk about it.
More ambitious
The game is set to be released in 2021, but so far we know quite a bit about it, so we can sum most of the highlights here. First of all, while there have been some compilations of movie series taken into LEGO games like the LEGO Jurassic World one that got all the JW movies together, none of them have been as ambitious as this one.
Even Star Wars has had compilations of the prequels and the original trilogy and all that. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is ridiculously ambitious. If you haven't guessed already, they included all the 9 films from the main Star Wars saga. This includes the prequels, the original trilogy, and the Disney ones. The nine main movies from the Star Wars universe in just one LEGO game.
Bigger than ever before
Now, not only is the game ambitious by adding all the 9 Star Wars movies into just one game, but they are also making it even bigger than ever before. Usually, you get to have dozens of playable characters in these games, but now they are topping that and making it the LEGO Star Wars game with most characters.

They are making it an open-world game where you can explore the different planets and play different missions. Of course, the game doesn't recreate scene-by-scene, instead, it allows us to play the most iconic moments from each movie. But even that wasn't enough, so they made even more changes to make this be a completely new experience, different from any other LEGO Star Wars game ever before.
New mechanics
As we mentioned earlier, even though the themes of the games are different, they all tend to have pretty similar mechanics. But this game developed by Traveller's Tales is teasing many new and different mechanics, as well as new and original graphics. The movement, fighting, and even building mechanics seem to have changed. With new Force mechanics, aiming the weapons, and even camera angles. They're aiming at a complete reboot for the LEGO Star Wars games.
LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is probably just what LEGO games need if they hope to stay relevant. For the past few years their games have not been as successful as they once were. And much of that is due to them being really repetitive. So we are certainly looking forward to the release of this game to see what they managed to pull off.

Conspiracy theorists can rest easy. And doom mongers needn't bother.
The explanation why The Complete Saga edition of Lego Star Wars is coming to DS (and home consoles) but not PSP has nothing to do with Nintendo forming the kind of alliance with publisher Activision that Palpatine himself would approve of.
Nor is it the suggestion that game publishers around the world are abandoning Sony's format at a rate only bettered by the number of Wookiee casualties during the Battle of Kashyyyk.
Star Wars Complete Saga Review
No, the reason comes down to something far more straightforward: the age-old combination of time and money.
'We really love Lego Star Wars II on PSP,' said developer Traveller's Tales head of production Jonathan Smith when we asked him for an explanation, 'but we simply have limited available resources, and couldn't fit a PSP version of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga into our plans.'
